The 100th anniversary of WW1

For the last couple of language classes we have been learning the "story" of World War 1.  After learning about the characters, plot, setting and details of the war, we posed two questions to students: 1. What is one thing you remember about the first world war? 2. Why is it important to think about and remember how the First World War shaped Canada?

The last question we asked was, "Did you like learning about WW1? and why?"

  3. I remember in the first wold war they made a 3d map out of wood to over look the land.
The first wold war shaped Canada because after the war we where allowed to have our own army and the women in Canada got the right to vote. I really liked learning about World War One because I liked learning the history of 100 years ago. The population in Canada 100 years ago was only 8 million people.

  4. Nice start, a really good memory of the assassination of "one man". To bump it up, add specific details - Archduke Franz Ferdinand is the "one man" you are writing about. Don't forget to have your writing read back to you so that you can catch little mistakes you need to fix before you post. Great start!

  8. Some very powerful recollections here! The fact that you all remember some of the "big ideas" about WW1 tells me that you took in a lot about what Mr. Hayes and I were teaching you.

I am very proud of each and every one of my students!

    Keep up the fantastic work!
