Reading response

After reading the first chapter of the universe I have some questions. The Whole topic of the universe is mind boggling so it was hard to come up with a question but here is what I got. I wonder if there is life on any planets in or out of our Solar System and if so why did nobody tell the public. I hope to get an answer to my question.

  1. Hi Marlow: Mr. D. told me about his blog, so I'm checking it out. I'm an astronomer, and I think your question is excellent. We haven't found any life outside the Earth yet, either in our solar system, or in other solar systems. However, there are some excellent places to look, and you might want to do some research on this: Mars (under the surface, we haven't looked that much yet), Jupiter's moons Europa and Ganymede and Saturn's moon Enceladus-- we think that all of these have oceans under an ice crust, and if there's water there could be life. There are missions planned for some of these, but it's not easy. Personally I think there is a lot of simple life (e.g., bacterial) in the universe, but I'm not sure about intelligent life-- a lot more has to go right for that to happen. It sure would be cool though! You could check out these websites:
